Joplin Tornado Anniversary's "Walk of Unity"

A note from Firefighter Dayna Hilton:

Joplin will be remembering the Joplin Tornado Anniversary next Tuesday, Tango the Fire Safety dog and I will be participating in the "Walk of Unity" with our friends from the PAWS Search and Rescue Alliance (the dogs from PAWS were very instrumental in finding many people after last year's F-5 tornado). Tango and I hope to reach out to the children in attendance to give them comfort as well as to reach out to our many friends in the Joplin area.

ABOUT PAWS

P.A.W.S. Search Dog Alliance (People Are Worth Saving) is an organization made up entirely of volunteers who have a united interest in developing greater skills for themselves and their dogs in training and handling techniques in all aspects of search, rescue and recovery.

Coming together as a group, they aim to assist any local agency with the use of canines, whether it be for training with local agencies or searching for missing, lost, or overdue persons, evidence recovery, or human remains. They also aim to educate the general public and local agencies in the benefit of using K-9's when and where they can be used.

As team members, members of PAWS give totally from their hearts and souls, and they want to teach others what America is made of...Volunteers.

Each search and rescue dog takes about $10,000 to train, and many handlers pay for the dog's training out of their own pockets. Please consider making a donation to this very worthwhile cause today.

Until next time, stay safe.
